Dear friends,

I am a New Yorker who is entertaining a group of 15 in Boston in about 1.5 mos.

I am attempting to do something "over the top" involving a tasting menu, private chef or overall gourmet experience.

$$$ is no object here . . . I could easily name 2-3 amazing things in NYC but am looking to hounds to tell me what you'd do in this scenario.

Thanks for the advice!

Lucky you. For these criteria, O Ya would be my recommendation. Perhaps a call in to the chef and sake sommelier in advance to arrange an over the top meal.

I haven't had the means to try it myself, but it seems like it might also be interesting to see what Craigie on Main can do. Tony Maws is one of the most innovative chefs on the East Coast, uses lots of unusual ingredients, and seems to be very versatile. His tasting menu gets lots of rave reviews and I assume he would tailor it for a group given that his standard menu already changes day to day.

O Ya and Craigie are both great rec's, I would lean towards O Ya myself. Another interesting option would be Clio as well, because of the level of creativity in the kitchen.

tony mawes, chef/owner of craigie, is a clio alumnae.

all good recs, but i suggest you call ahead and ask to speak either to the chef or the gm. express your desire for this to be over-the-top. discuss price-points, and possibly wines or sake. as great as these places are, a little more advance notice and they will blow you away.
