Does anyone have a CURRENT specials report on places downtown (financial district, king west, front street) to have some cheap pints or martinis on weekdays? I know Hey Lucy's Wednesdays but looking for Monday, Tuesday, mainly. There are a lot of sites out there but not that current or up to date.

Basic theme? Couple of after work folks hanging pre-game, pre-concert, pre-convention center activities.

Thanks much,

For yet another time (at least half a dozen so far - search this board) it's ILLEGAL in Ontario to change prices[more than once a day]. The AGCO essentially forbids any 'cheap drinks' - unless the price change is 'semi-permanent'.
So, yes, you can find a Mon-Fri price and a different 'weekend price' - but forget any "4pm-6pm' or 'lunch' specials on any alcoholic beverages in Ontario.
I know, I've seen it too, but the penalty is loss (or suspension) of license.

I've seen several places offering cheap drink specials on certain nights lately. Have the laws changed or are they just playing around with the day/night price thing?

from estufarians post, i'm understanding it to be that a single change in price (ie. a daily special) is fine but a limited time period (ie. happy hour) would require two price changes in a day and would therefore not fly. do these places change their price back after a certain amount of time?

the beaconsfield (and i think formally the drake) offers a happy hour but i noticed that it's a food and drink combo. i suspect that when queried about it by officials the drinks are still full price but the food would be dirt cheap. that's a pretty decent way to skirt the regulations. this would also explain why happy hour isn't so abundant in this city... and i just recently was spoiled in seattle. oh well.

Only one price change/day is the rule.
So if you change the price tonight at 11:59 pm, you can change the price tomorrow at 6:00pm. So a 'Happy Hour' price can be in effect from Midnight until closing and still in effect from opening until 6:00pm - but that messes it up for the next day as you can't make a change at 11:59pm because of the 6:00pm change.

Similarly the 'food + jug' type option (or combo) has a kicker hidden in it. If a 'combo' is offered, they must also make available (but don't have to advertize) an 'equivalent' non-alcoholic alternative. It gets a bit complex, but in simple terms, if you ask for the 'non-alcoholic' version of a combo it must also reflect an equivalent discount (i.e. the discount is deemed to be entirely on the food). Again, license suspnsion (at least) if 'found guilty'.
Realistically, most complaints come from competitors (I understand, but have no first-hand experience).

Participating Wild Wing locations have "Pound and a Pint" for $12.99 on Thursdays. Not being much of a drinker, I would rather go on Tuedays when they have a pound and a half of wings for the price of a pound ($9.99). I have to find out, though, if they allow two different sauces on the pound and the half-pound (having learned the embarrassing way that "no splitting" means you can't have two flavours in one-pound or two-pound orders, rather than no sharing).

Haha, hey don't feel bad -- if you remember when you made that post, I responded with a LOL and it didn't occour to me that it meant no splitting "flavors" either

However I admit I'm a good old Canadian who loves his beers, so I'd go for the cheap brews personally

Wild Wing, I have wanted to try, and was even in the restaurant one time about to place a take-out order when it struck me as incredibly overpriced and I didn't buy anything.. I stopped at Sobeys on my way home and picked up a pack of split drumettes & wings and grilled them on the BBQ instead; for way less than the price of 2lb's there I probably made 4 times the chicken wings
