Good Italian Restaurants In Chicago

Does anyone have any suggestions for good Italian restaurants in Chicago (north side, if possible)? Thanks so much!

  1. My fave is Volare, just off Mich. Ave at, I think, Illinois. You have to walk downstairs to the east. It's oldstyle, but very, very good. Shrimp and veal, in particular.

      I agree on Volare.

I also had a great meal recently at Rosebud Trattoria (used to be Ballo) kitty-corner from Ben Pao on Illinois.

      Ben Pao
      52 W. Illinois St., Chicago, IL 60610

      201 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611

      Ballo Restaurant
      449 N Dearborn St, Chicago, IL 60654

    2. If you want a local trattoria, try the Bocca della Verita in Lincoln Square. The ossobuco is absolutely real. Nice staff and service, too. (

      1. I like Buena Terra on California Ave in Logan Square and Terragusto (two locations: one on Addison; one on Armitage).
