There's a few HFM threads on CH but they all seem pretty old. The most recent one is from 2008:

Are the awesome spots still awesome? Anything new? Any downhill alerts?

The stuff that I never miss..

- Pupusas, still awesome
- Tamales, usually the last stall on the east side of the market, easily the best I've ever had
- Breadman apple turnovers - also the best apple turnover I've had. Not too sweet, tastes super natural, I don't feel like I'm gonna have a butter induced heart attack after
- Fish chick - awesome smoked salmon, too poor for the rest of the fish :(

Anyone comments? Has anyone been to that "restaurant" right near the tamale guys? Anyone got a favorite bread vendor?

I think the link you posted is still pretty up to date. There is a new chili place that is pretty good. I also really like the salsas from Vera's.

My favorite bread stand has always been the LA Bread stand, and now that thye are Village Bakery & Cafe, they have the pastries from there. Yesterday I got one of the excellent maple bacon scones along with an olive oil/rosemary/lemon/almond cake which sounds crazy, I know, but was quite good.

As for the restaurant; if you mean the Farmer's Kitchen, I went during their long soft opening phase and thought the food was underseasoned, but maybe they've worked on that since then.
