New at BigMista's BBQ (Atwater)...or at least new to us!

  • 4

BigMista Offered "Super Sunday Specials" at Atwater yesterday. And they were very special:

1. Brisket Chili - made with his smoked brisket (no beans). Spicy. rich, full of flavor. Truly inspired. We just scarfed it for lunch today.
2. Beef Ribs - these ribs are LARGE. (At least 1/2 lb of meat per bone) Juicy, tender, big beefy, smokey rub flavor.
3, Smoked Chicken - we tried this last week. The white meat was juicy and delicious.

We hope he keeps these items in the rotation. Give them a try if you haven't already!

  1. Someone in front of us ordered the beef ribs and they looked positively Flinstonean! Hopefully, BigMista's will put them into regular rotation--though I'd be hard-pressed to stay away from their pork ribs. We got a taste of the smoked chicken too. Very tender and juicy. Looks like we'll have to expand beyond our standing order of pork ribs, brisket, greens and beans (oh, and the mac & cheese when the Mrs. makes 'em).

    1. Thanks for the report, oldie. I've been focused on Big Mista's brisket, pulled pork, and ribs and haven't tried their chicken. I love to hear that the white meat -- usually dry and overcooked at even the best places -- is "juicy and delicious."

      1. re: Harry Nile

We've been focused on the same (along with beans and greens), and were very pleasantly surprised by the chicken. (Our doctors would prefer we focus on the chicken!) Neil is nervous about the smoke ring on the chicken...that if customers see pink, they will think that the chicken's not cooked. It is........

      2. Thanks for the heads up, just what I need. Got myself going only once a month for the pork ribs and now they got beef !!!

Doesn't surprise me on the beef ribs...BigMista reads CH and there was a long thread recently about finding good beef ribs in LA.
