Thanksgiving Dinner Cooking Class at Dish - Edwards, CO
Chef and owner Jenna Johansen of Dish (www.eatdrinkdish.com) in Edwards, Colorado did a Thanksgiving Dinner Cooking Class yesterday. My SO and I had a great time, learned a lot and ate very well. About 15 folks were in the class, some looked on into the open kitchen and some of us volunteered to “assist” in the kitchen, doing everything from prep to actual cooking. Jenna did an amazing job of explaining mise en place, directing, demonstrating and letting us participate. It was the first time in more than 30 years since I had worked in a commercial kitchen (my family had a restaurant in Winnetka, Il, on Sundays working the kitchen was not a voluntary activity).
Dish is a wonderful place to eat and drink in the Vail & Eagle River Valley. The special events they do; cooking classes, wine and cheese tastings are fun and laid-back. If you are going to visit this winter, checkout what they may have going on. It would be a great way to breakup an ski vacation. If they don’t have an event going on, still go for dinner, food and service is great. There are about 8 seats at the counter overlooking the kitchen, when you make reservation, try to snag them.
