yikes! Did I just screw up my dinner?
Okay so i'm feeling a little under the weather so having some comfort food of brown rice cooked with lentils. I threw the rice in the boiling water and then closed the lid. I then realized i forgot the lentils and just dumped them in. I then realized (can you tell i'm feeling fuzzy?) that i had rinsed or sorted the lentils at all.... They're standard lentils, in a bag, goya brand.... Did i just ruin my dish??

The only thing I ever find in lentils are very small rocks - usually I find one every so often when I check a batch. I'd presume if there was a rock it would be at the bottom of the pot, and you could just look through it after as Normandie said. I've never had any other sort of issues - you're not rinsing off anything that will affect the taste when you rinse them (unlike Quinoa, for example)

kubasd, I do look the bagged lentils over before using them, but honestly, I really don't remember when I found anything. Now and then I take out a undeveloped lentil or something, but I don't think I've ever found something else.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. When you take the food out of the pan, just fluff it a little with your fork and look through it then.
I'm sure it will be fine, and you should worry instead about feeling better. ;-) I hope you do, very soon.
