Sub on Wheels

Is the Sub on Wheels on 33rd and 9th officially gone? My husband can't find it there anymore. Apparently the guy who runs it went to Uman for Rosh Hashana but that's the last we know. Is it still around, or is it gone indefinitely? If it moved, where did it go?

  1. Seems to be gone, and the entirety of B&H is very sad to see him go. I sent an email to their ordering system asking when they'll be back, no answer.

It wasn't an automated email system, either, you used to have to describe exactly how you wanted your sandwich prepared.

Schnitzel Express, on 39th and Broadway, is an acceptable subsitute. 212 997 7770

It's not so much a substitute I'm looking for; my husband works on 31st and 8th, so going to 39th and Broadway is a bit of a schlep. (I'd recommend Mr. Broadway anyhow, but that's just me. ;) )

I actually just called via the number listed at http://www.bruchacaterer.com/DailySpe... and left a message. I hope they actually return the call.

I, personally, only get 30 minutes for lunch, so I get everything delivered. I agree that 39th & broadway is quiet the schlep, however.

I became very persistent about this and ended up talking to the guy in charge who runs the operation. He basically said that he's trying to work this out with B&H to give him parking - he'd like to come back, but the current arrangement is a bit inconvenient.

The Cameraman - he said that if the person in charge of B&H would give him parking, he'd be able to restore his operation, but it's been a big ordeal thus far given that he gets up at 2am to begin his day when he is in Manhattan.

My husband doesn't work at B&H. If the entirety of B&H is sad to see it go, they need to make sure that the person in charge of this at B&H can give him the courtesy of a parking spot so that it's no longer difficult for him to make the schlep out here.

That's a damn shame. For some unfathomable reason, the upper management of B&H is seems to be opposed to a food cart anywhere near the store. Tcertainly won't give up a precious parking spot they could give a customer to this guy.

Oy, now I have a craving for a Cajun Steak Sandwich and I won't have another one ever again *sob*.
