Tibetan food?

  • 1

I had heard there is good Tibetan food to be had in NYC and would love to know where to find it. Can you please direct me for lunch or dinner on a Saturday? We'll be driving in from Connecticut in a couple of weeks.

In my hometown, we had a terrific Tibetan restaurant with wonderful momos served with a spicy salsa, not to mention other dishes I really loved.

Having searched this board, the only result I found was Top Cafe Tibet--and the reviews weren't overwhelmingly great. Maybe I have to live with the memory of my old favorite, Little Tibet, but if I can revisit some of the flavors when I visit your neck of the woods, I'd be grateful.

  1. Research the board for Nepali restaurants, particularly around Jackson Heights. All of them have momos and some of them offer other Tibetan staples. If you really desire Tibetan (not just momos), then Himalayan Yak is probably your best bet. I spend my rupees at Mustang Thakali Kitchen, where the momos are satisfying but the Tibetan options lacking.
