Christmas Dinner in Strasbourg?

Hi Everyone,

My boyfriend and I are spending Christmas in Strasbourg. What are your recommendations for a nice place for Christmas dinner? Or for not-to-miss places in general?

From what I've gathered from searching the board, it seems that Strasbourg is not a great dining destination. I hope that's not true!! We live in Paris and have gotten quite spoiled by the quality of restaurants here.

Does anyone have any suggestions for us? Also, are things generally open on Christmas, or will everything be closed?

  1. Daphne, we visited Strasbourg just before Christmas one year and I am afraid we were underwhelmed. I suspect there are some good places but you will need to head of the tourist track.

We also didn't care that much for the Christmas market. Luckily for us we then moved to Riquewihr which was far better, and whilst their Christmas market was still quite commercial it seemed to have far more artisan producers (and the town is a fantastic setting). Out of Strasbourg itself the little villages of Alsace do have some fine restaurants; is it to late to slightly adjust your plans?
