Chocolate request

hi fellow Chow hounds, I am hosting a little party and I need chocolates and pastries. I was going to just go out and buy a ton of it and then I was shocked at how expensive the chocolates and pastries are.

I am working on a really tight budget (actually I spent it all the booze....LOL, otherwise there would be more left) and need to get some pastries and chocolates if you all can help :)~~~

    1. Can't speak about pastries, but I just discovered that Fresh & Easy sells huge bars of really tasty milk & dark chocolate (Callebaut, but under the Fresh & Easy label) for $3.99. If you break apart a bar, it will feed about 8 people.

        1. Go to trader joes, you can get pop in the oven pastries like pain de chocolate and inexpensive truffles... just put on nice plates and if all that booze you bought works, no one will be the wiser...

            1. Where are you located? Greatest default is always Portos. Great pastries of all sorts and, check out their 3 layer chocolate mousse. TJMaxx is another option. I was in one near my house and they're filled with specialty treats coming in for the holidays

                1. Ikea.
