We just ate at 1201 Kitchen tonight and think this is now the best restaurant in Erie. The creativity and quality of food is incredible. This restaurant would stand up to its peer in any city in the US. Chef Kern's take on asian fusion cuisine is amazing. Try the roasted romaine or the warm arugula salad. The squash potstickers and fried oysters are excellent and the pumpkin spice creme brulee is like nothing you have ever eaten in your life.

Just out of curiosity, what was your previous best restaurant? I get up to Erie 2-3 times per year, and I usually eat at Smuggler's Cove purely for the lake perch dinner. I am always looking for a nice place to eat just in case I am there for more than 1 night.

We still make it a point to eat at Colao's Ristorante which is at the corner of Plum and 28th. It is a nice neighborhood Italian restaurant with consistently excellent veal dishes. My favorite is the veal marsala. Last night my friend and I ate there and had short ribs cooked with vegetables over risotto and lobster and crab ravioli. Both dishes were specials for the night and were very well prepared and well received.

MrKotter I am wondering which restaurant you are referring to as there is no Smuggler's Cove here in Erie. There is Smuggler's Wharf that is right on the bay at the foot of State St. near the bicentennial tower and there is The Cove which is only a year or so old that is literally across the street.
