The building permit posted on the exterior is for a complete renovation. Given that the neighborhood is now dominated by observant Jews, the natural customer base has been shrinking dramatically in the past few years. I've been told (don't know how reliably) that they have been trying so sell for the last three years. I don't think it's been as good since the last renovation several years ago when they tried to take the place "upscale". When I was last there in September, the place just seemed tired and business was slow. The most outgoing brother, Mario, has been in another business and he just isn't around much and the place has suffered. Regrettably, Flushing has become totally Balkanized. Kosher in Kew Gargen Hills, Korean in the northeast, and Chinese and Taiwanese everywhere else.
