Upcoming Manhattan visit to Little Italy and Chinatown
During our upcoming Manhattan visit, we are planning a day of shopping in Little Italy and Chinatown. Would greatly appreciate a recommendation for a early dinner or perhaps late lunch before returning to our hotel for the theatre that evening.

More looking than shopping. This is a first time visit for us and we just want to get a feel for the two areas. Definitely want to visit Di Palo's and definitely dim sum. Perhaps Lombardi's. Other suggestions greatly appreciated. There is much discussion on dim sum it is difficult to select.

Dim Sum Go Go is the best dim sum house in Chinatown. Some hounds also like Red Egg, which is a lot cheaper (not that DSGG is expensive; you can pig out there for around $20).
How many people are you going to be?
[Off-topic: Why is Red Egg being automatically linked, but not DSGG?]

OK. I think there are just about enough of you for a trip to Cantoon Garden to be worthwhile. It's my favorite Cantonese banquet restaurant in New York (certainly Manhattan). Here's a long thread that includes discussion of various dishes:

This is by no means comprehensive, but might be useful in the shopping aspect of your visit. Where are you staying, by the way - i.e., what area?

We are staying in the midtown west area.
