Looking for Gourmet shopping/international market in columbia area

We've just moved from the Metro-Detroit area. I've found a lot of good places to shop/eat via chow - st. andrews seafood market for one. We're looking for a international market/gourmet store for grocery/meat/produce. I've found bits here and there but nothing like what we used in MI. For an example in MI we used to shop at http://www.ninosalvaggio.com/grocery.asp

a bit of a drive for something of this sort is fine. If some place like this doesn't exist i'd like some recommendations on a good produce market and a meat market.

    1. To my knowledge, Columbia does not have the kind of store you describe. The closest might be Your Dekalb Farmer's Market, an amazing store just east of Atlanta. But there are some decent Asian markets here, such as Hyundai Oriental on Decker Blvd., or 88 Oriental Market on St. Andrews Rd.

        1. The closest you will come in Columbia is Earth Fare- have you been? They have a lot of interesting things, maybe not exactly what you are needing, but it's something!

          1. The Gourmet Shoppe at Five Points may work for some of your need. They have a large wine and cheese selection, sweets, and lots of cookware. A pretty decent restaurant too.

              1. Heather's Artisan Bakery is a great place to shop for bread. Check out her site for hours, location and a link to Rosewood Market which may also be of interest to you.

                  1. The Gourmet Shoppe (http://thegourmetshop.net/) and Earth Fare are both quality recs. For another meat option you could try New York Butcher (tried to post their link but it wouldn't work, sry. I guess you can google it, New York Butcher, Columbia, SC). They are a franchise operation. A good idea is to get on their mailing list to see what the weekly specials are. They will be offering high quality fresh turkeys for the Thanksgiving and the holidays.
