Good sandwich place?
Looking for a place to go in Lower Westchester with good, easy sandwiches for lunch. It seems like all we can find around here is diners and chain restaurants (someone recommended Cheesecake Factory, UGH.....) Just want a reliable, fresh turkey or roast beef sandwich with some fresh veggies...

melt, iron tomato, burgers shakes and fries, firemans deli,

Intrepid you took the words right out of my mouth. Melt & Fireman's Deli came immediatley to mind. Iron Tomato is ok, I would rather have a sandwich from Dante's or Casa d' Italia in Harrison.

hi-thanks, i havent been to dantes in 5-6 years, owner is a nut job- not worth the bs thanks

Iron Tomato is great for the real fresh turkey sandwich - cut right off the real bird, not the cold cut, and the same with the prime rib. They are also one block from where I work so the usually fit the bill. But I do love Dantes!

NOT fireman's deli - it is called Firehouse Deli and it does a great sandwich but is take out only! It is on Mill Street on the Port Chester/Greenwich border. Burgers, Shakes and Fries is AWESOME but does not have sandwiches - as the name suggests go for the AWESOME burgers.
If you also want a great sandwich, sit down style - go to Rye Ridge Deli in Rye Ridge Plaza in Rye Brook, NY. (I know chow added the address in CT but the main/original site is in Rye Brook, NY).
We also LOVE Katzenberg's on Greenwich Avenue (there is also a location in Scarsdale now) and have found tasty sandwiches at Olive Branch on Railroad AVenue in Greenwich.

Katzenberg in Scarsdale closed at least 1 year ago. Michael's moved into that spot. For sandwiches in Scarsdale and in Bronxville, I like Lange's.

There is a Katzenberg's in the Golden Horseshoe.

What is the Golden Horseshoe?

ok - sorry about not knowing BSF had sandwiches but they so make the best dang burgers within a 30 mile radius.
At least someone verified Katzenberg's is still open in Scarsdale.

Golden Horseshoe is shopping center intersection of Wilmont Road and Heathcote 5 Corners in Scarsdale. Katzenbergs is great for sandwiches, and tossed salads too.

MELT would be my choice.

I have no idea if this place even still exists, but years ago they had some of the best hot heroes in the county. Definitely worthy of a look -- weekday lunchtime is best.

I'd skip deli delicious - I went in once a few years back and I can't even discuss..... ICK! I know I was not the only one - it was not the food so much as what was crawling on it. Altho, this was a few years ago and maybe things have changed but I just can't go back.

For a great fresh turkey or prime rib sandwich - Iron Tomato in White Plains. They cook at least 2 whole turkeys every day and hand carve them for the sandwiches. Fresh hand cut prime rib is also made daily.

I've eaten breakfast/brunch at Splendid Cafe in White Plains and tried a little of the turkey wrap sandwich (which tasted like real turkey). The chicken soup tasted like real chicken, not canned. Therefore, I would think the sandwiches here would be decent.
