Anyone tried the new Herradura on Mmk Ave yet?

Did not like the one in NR and am unwilling to be the guinea pig so wondering if anyone has gone yet and, if so, your thoughts.

My husband and I have been there a couple of times. I didn't find anything particularly interesting on the menu (nothing really different from the standard stuff), but it was tasty. I liked their refried beans (they had a little tang to them). Taking forever to get the liquor license. It was good enough the first time to go back. Service is very friendly.

We did about two weeks age. No liquor license yet. BYO. Same menu was New Rochelle in a brighter decor and livelier location. Good value. friendly service and decent food at an affordable "diner" price point. For top Mexican/Southwest try Lolita's in Byram CT near Tarry Lodge. Bring money.

I wasn't impressed with their Main St. or Wykagyl locations in New Rochelle. What can you say about a chain?

Not sure I consider Herradura a "chain" which brings up an interesting point anaonymouse. What defines a chain?

To me a chain is a franchised restaurant or nationally/regionally corporately owned restaurant group whereas Herradura is a single operator (I assume) that now has expanded to several fairly local locations. Not sure what number of outlets moves the single operator multi-location, restaurant into the corporately owned category. For example, is Q now a chain because it has two restaurants? To me no.

This has probably been discussed on the General Chowhounding topics so probably moderator will move this.

            Hi.

Yes, for any further discussion about what constitutes a chain, please start a thread on the Not About Food board. However, a "chain" that is situated in a geographic area covered by a regional board, such as this one, should be discussed on that board.

            Thanks.
