Hey, so I'm making pickles today (with ghost chiles!) but I haven't been able to find the proper widemouth ball jar lids. I've seen the lids themselves in boxes... I already have the ball jars. I looked in Morton Williams and a kitchen appliance store but no luck.Anyone know a good place to find them? I live in midtown east, so reccomendations near there are ideal, but I'm willing to travel a litte. I want my pickles!

Ace Hardware carries them, so do some of the more pedestrian suburban supermarkets. You might want to phone in advance.

Upstairs at Zabar's they carry the Ball (and Kerr) jars. I've not noticed the replacement lids, but then I never really looked either. In addition to some supermarkets, some hardware stores carry them. I've also seen the jars (again, never looked for the lids) in Bowery Kitchen Supply in Chelsea Market.
