My wife and I are visiting NYC in December to see a show at Town Hall. Can I eat at Lugers and still make an 8pm show in midtown?

Yes. Peter Luger serves its dinner menu from when they open at 12:00 through closing. If you go early enough, before 3:00 you can get the great burger they serve. Early is good, less crowded and a slower pace to the meal.

If you are not driving yourself, you need to get a car service to return to Manhattan. Tell them your schedule when you arrive and you might want to remind the waiter as your meal is ending. Bring cash.

I am a big Lugar's fan, but would strongly recommend that you instead go to Keen's on 36th St in Manhattan if you are going to a show at Town Hall. Aside from an excellent steak, you could also choose the Prime Rib or Mutton Chop (actually a huge lamb chop), choices you don't have at Lugar's. Plus though the atmosphere is different in each, both have an Old New York feeling. (And Keens takes Credit Cards)

On reflection, I think you make a very good point. Keen's Chop House would give a great meal, wonderful, much-loved atmosphere and proximity to the show such that one is not rushed.Probably better to save Luger for another time....
