Russ Daughters

is it correct that they now have a take out counter/dept where they will prepare smoked fish on a bagel. even an egg cream?? do they have sit down seating??

Or you could walk West on Houston a couple of blocks to Forsyth St where there is a nicer park. On weekends stop by the Hwa Mei bird garden and see one of Manhattan's best kept secrets, weather permitting.

There was a time when you actually had to buy a bagel from elsewhere and hand it to them to make a sandwich. But I think that they got with the times, and are carrying bagels for about 10+ years now.

I believe they're kossar's bagels. At one point it said where they were from.

I asked at Kossar's: "We used to make bagels for R&D but now they get them from another place, in Brooklyn maybe?"

It is not new that you can get a bagel sandwich there to go. There is no seating. No egg creams.

They actually do offer egg creams for $3.50.
