Hi. We're coming to Sag Harbor over Thanksgiving with a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old to visit far-flung relatives. Some of them will be serving at a shelter on Thanksgiving, so we're having our family dinner on Friday, and will be on our own on Thanksgiving Day. I'd love any recommendations for places in the area that will be open on Thanksgiving that are not, you know, Burger King (not that they have Burger King in those rarified environs!) We don't need a formal turkey dinner, though. (My kids are not hellions by any stretch but I don't take them anywhere formal.)

Thanks.

There is a Burger King and also a McDonalds outside Southampton Village, unfortunately that may be your only option. Maybe Corner Bar would be open? Or one of the pizzarias? Once the season is over, everyone makes up for all the lost holidays of the summer. You'd better ask your hosts to check around, or call the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce.
Oh, one place I just thought of, MAYBE and it would be great for kids, is Ziggys, just south of town. Call them and ask 537-6060. You never know.

Thanks. I looked at Ziggy's menu online and wow, that's my kids all over! Closed on Thanksgiving, but we'll try to get there another day that weekend.

If you like bbq, Turtle Crossing in Easthanpton is great - my kids have loved it for years. Their website doesn't say anyrthing about being closed for Thanksgiving, but you might want to give them a call. Just google Turtle Crossing and you'll find the site.

World Pie in Bridgehampton is also very good, but again I don't know their schedule.

If they're open that's a great choice, but it IS somewhat formal. Maybe not so much on a family holiday like Thanksgiving though.
