We are bringing friends over for the game this weekend, and they have not spent much time in New Orleans. We want to have a casual, low key lunch/brunch before the game. What do y'all suggest?

Elizabeth's is out in Bywater, and I really like that place. Might not be on the way to the game, but it's pretty darned good. If you're in the Quarter, you might want to try the Coffee Pot.

Refuel (riverbend), Surrey's (mag at Euterpe), Ruby Slipper (mid-city) for something casual. Make no mistake...these places aren't your typical eggs and bacon spots (but their eggs and bacon are great!). You'll find great brunch specials like pumpkin pancakes, grits and grillades, seafood omelets, etc. Check out their websites, too. I hear Coulis (on Prytania) is pretty good, but I have not yet tried it.

Good grillades is worth driving a distance for. I heard Parkway had a good brunch version but cannot vouch for it.

Thanks for the suggestions! Our guests wanted to walk around the FQ so we went to the Coffee Pot! It was excellent. I had the Eggs Jonathan, and even though they forgot the hollandaise they were very good. The lost bread looked interesting, but i didn't taste. My husband had the Creole Eggs and they were devine.

AND we were serenaded by one of the waitresses! We will be back!
