Regarding the "AMAZING" Halal Cart...

My friend and I want to try it since it is said to be a cornerstone of NY eating.

A) Is open on Friday evenings? Until when?

B) And perhaps most importantly, is there anywhere near the cart where people can SIT down with their plates and enjoy the meal. Perhaps with a nice dessert place nearby for a bite afterwards?

=)

    1. If you mean the famous cart on 53rd and 6th SW corner across from the Hilton, there's some planters and ledges you can sit on, but not a whole of tables or chairs available.

      It's open quite late -- until 4am.

For dessert, I'd go to Kyotofu, which serves Asian-influenced desserts.

      1. If you go to around 52nd or 51st (forgot which one) between 6th and 7th, you'll find some tables and chairs outside.

          1. There are tons of tables and chairs outside at Rockefeller Center. Less than 5 minutes to walk.

update: the tables and chairs at RC are gone! must be the season.

                • Sitting at table and chairs is fine but to me the best way to enjoy is sitting on a planter or ledge near by during lunch and watching all the people go by.

on the 51st street side of the UBS building (btwn 6th & 7th) there are tables and chairs, no matter when you sit its gonna be cold however....its open all night every night...

Yup, there are wood benches and granite seats and tables outside the UBS building. I usually walk my food back a few blocks and eat it there. It's nice and cold there at 2am, but I don't mind.

                        2. If you're coming from out of town, get a room at the Sheraton or Hilton. Seriously--sitting on a planter is the only immediate option and not my idea of an enjoyable meal.
