Leaving Pointers to Threads Moved to a Different Board

I think that a pointer (locked) to a moved thread should be left in the thread's original location. We had a thread over on my home board recently that was moved over to the "Chains" section. I would never have found it if I didn't do a site-wide search.

I see pointers left once in a while, but the Chowteam doesn't seem to have a set policy because the decision to leave a pointer seems so random.

    1. I agree. And I don't think that thread should have been moved either as we were all discussing Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton restaurants (aka restaurants in Western Canadian cities). Yes it was in relation to gift certificates being sold from Costco, but if you actually read the discussion you see us talking about service at the restaurants.

        1. We leave pointers when the moderator has time (it's kind of a multi-step process, when moving a thread is already often a multi-step process) and when it seems important. If something was pretty off-topic for the board it was posted on, we're more likely to just email the poster than clutter up the originating board with a heads up post that's not particularly interesting to them.

That said, we've also moved that thread back to Western Canada, since the local discussion outweighed the chain discussion.

              Thanks Chowteam.
