I stopped in at Court House Fish Market today to pick up something for dinner and noticed that they had fresh Uni (Sea Urchin) in the shell at $4.99/lb. I asked how you open them and one of the staff told me they also had them already out of the shell too. I bought a small wooden tray of impeccably fresh Uni along with a halibut steak and some mackerel. The tray of Uni was about $10.00 but considering that one order of two pieces at most sushi bars is somewhere between $6.00 and $8.00 it was a hell of bargain. The staff told me that they are planning to stock it as often as possible so if you are a fan this is the place to go. Court House Fish is my go-to place any time I need seafood.

that sounds awesome, now I have a craving.....

And how was it?

I got all excited, I saw the generated link for Fish Market and the map showing it to be just near where I'm going tonight (to Myung Dong 1st Ave.) but realized quickly that was an error and of course I'd know if there was a Courthouse market around there. Damn.

The uni was delicious. Very fresh tasting. Firm with no iodine flavor as uni sometimes has if it is not perfectly fresh. I have a recipe I got in Japan for spaghetti made with a sauce of uni, tobiko and butter with shaved nori as a garnich. I will be making this soon with uni from Court House Fish

I had a Japanese coworker years ago bring a plate of Uni from Courthouse to a potluck dinner with nonadventurous eaters. they were delicious and he was very proud to bring them but he and I were the only people to partake.

The wooden tray is about 3" wide and 6" long. There were four rows of individual pieces and each row had about 5 pieces in it so about 20 pieces per tray.

The new linking system just doesn't work. The Fish Market link takes you to a restaurant in Boston instead of the Courthouse Fish Market in Cambridge.
