Why does it make you sad?

Not everyone can afford an expensive dinner, and it's cheap enough to add more items.

I understand all of that. I don't necessarily see Wal*Mart as all that altruistic in their motives. I really REALLY do not like Wal*Mart. If it helps people who really need it, then it is a good thing and I will go off and be sad all alone.

It feels like the Walmartization of a uniquely American tradition.

Wal-Mart itself is a uniquely American tradition. I think it's perfectly appropriate.

I personally would not want to eat food produced so cheaply that it can be sold for that little, but if someone needs it and is OK eating it, fine.

Whether it is a loss leader or an altruistic gesture, what difference does it make? Who are you to judge the motives of WalMart? The fact is they are providing a dinner at a good price and no one is forcing you or anyone else to buy it. I'm sure the people who do buy it are happy they paid such a reasonable price.

Seriously, there are other companies that are doing the same thing to taxpayers, one only needs to look at the recent banking controversy as an example. Walmart is not by itself but I'm one of those people out of work and while I won't be buying my turkey dinner there, I will continue to shop there.

I am sure many people will take advantage of the offer, and buy other crap while they're there. Life will go on.
