I'll try this again. I'm looking for recommendations for a wedding gift certificate ($200.00 US dollars) for friends who are marrying in Boston and live in Montreal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Searching is, as many have noted, overwhelming. These guys love to eat and love the high life.

Thanks!

Wish I could help you personally, but fine French dining just isn't my thing. ;-) However, I'd be glad to point you in the direction of resident expert Carswell's carefully selected list of "mid-range to high-end" recommendations. Perhaps you might want to start by taking a peek there first, and post any follow-up questions here if you need more deets on any particular place?

Many thanks, kpzoo. I was beginning to feel invisible. The list is very helpful and I'll check it out carefully today and get back if I have questions,

If French is the key word, Europea and Laloux are probably the best fine dining bets. La Porte is IMHO a step below. While its backbone may be French , I think its a stretch to characterize La Chronique as a French restaurant, but it is my favourite place to eat in Montreal.
