Restaurant Week - Newport RI

Anyone take part in restaurant week this week? Would love to hear your reviews. I went to Diego's (new on Bowen's wharf) for lunch. It's a very casual setting and maybe better in the summer when you can sit outside, but the food was very good. A spicy chili relleno to start and then fish tacos, although i kinda wish both were seasoned a bit more. The dessert though was the killer! i had the chocolate and banana empanada and it was incredible.

Last night went to Castle Hill for dinner which was a first for me. I really enjoyed it...nice seat by the window overlooking the twinkling lights on the bridges. the waitstaff was young and very friendly and attentive. Had veal cheeks for the first time and they were delicious. My husband's duck was good but oversalted, my chicken with red flannel hash was great!

  1. My wife and I went to Tucker's Bistro last night for rest week. We got there right at 6pm and the place was pretty full when we left an hour or so later. My wife got the butternut squash soup which she loved. She had the pork tenderloin for an entree. The pork was really tender and cooked perfectly but not very flavorful. Ginger ice cream for dessert was also loved by my wife.

    I went with the seared diver's scallop with quinoa and sunchoke puree. I thought it was excellent. My entree was the tautog with fingerling's, carmelized onions, more sunchoke puree and pancetta. This was also really good although a little on the small side. Could have used more fingerlings for sure. I had the baked apple turnover with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Did not care for it at all. Not that warm or flavorful. The ice cream while good consistency wise, lacked a real vanilla bite to it.

    Service was great and we would definitely go again.
