Hello. Looking for good Friday night, "second date" suggestions for dinner. Needs to be a place that will impress. Not looking for super upscale, but want a place with good ambiance, quiet, low lights, good wine, etc. It needs to be nice. Looking in the Fairfax/Falls Church area. We're both in our 40s. Want to avoid Tysons and Reston.

Where should we go?

Artie's comes to mind, but isn't completely a place to show that you're a good Hound.

I know you say avoid Reston, but in case that's actually to Reston Town Center, I could say three places easily; Ice House Cafe (technically Herndon) - where my wife and I had a great date dinner a few months ago on a Saturday; El Manantial in Reston, and Cafe Montmartre at Lake Anne.

If you're avoiding RTC, then I'd cross everything off your list that might be at Fairfax Corner (or whatever it's truly called).

To totally throw out a different location for you, go to Leesburg and hit Lightfoot. Take some time before hand to check out old town, and/or take two rides across White's Ferry for the fun of it - grabbing a snack or soda at the general store in between.

If a restaurant was involved in the first date, can I inquire where? And can you correct if you or the date is coming from anywhere very far from Fairfax/Vienna/FC?

If the OP was considering a wider geographic area, I'd heartily second Lightfoot. It's outstanding.

Thanks Dennis. We both live in Vienna and work in Reston, right near the RTC, so we often hit the RTC for lunch. The first date was a "business" lunch at Jacksons. I was looking for something a little different than the places we both have gone to and not a chain. Considered Bazins in Vienna and Bonaparte but might hit them in the future. Villa Mozart sounds interesting. I was not aware of it but am sure I have driven past it 100 times.

Cafe Renaissance in Vienna is a nice place for a date. I would also consider Mediterranee and Great Falls.
