I am really rooting for the newest restaurant in Deutschtown to make it. Why? Well, the space is beautiful – it is located in the old James Street Tavern. Also, I will be moving to this neighborhood next year and it is always good to have a few great restaurants within walking distance. Deutschtown has Legends, Max’s, Bistro to Go, The Priory Pastries, etc. but another full service restaurant is a needed asset. I have gone for dinner 3 times over the past 3 weeks. I have mostly enjoyed the food and think the menu has great potential. I really enjoyed the single serving pizza’s – especially the one with the pumpkin and blue cheese. I truly enjoyed the three way beet salad. It had creamy goat cheese and mint added in and was very refreshing. I tried the Lobster, Shrimp, Roasted Garlic Spinach, Tomatoes and Angel Hair Pasta – it was good – except the angel hair pasta was a big clump. I don’t think it was overcooked – just too much cheese gluing it together. This place is like a great old neighborhood tavern…because it used to be one. The food really is nice – and the other people I shared dinner with also agree. One friend liked the scallops so much she ordered them the following visit as well.

There are a couple of things that need to change:
1.	Where are the customers? I was there for happy hour twice and the place was empty. They need to pull some people in. There is a nice little happy hour menu with fun snacky food like mini mac and cheese and spicy beef and cheddar pockets. Beers are $1.00 off and they have a nice selection to choose from.
2.	The lights are soooooo bright! It was like an interrogation. Please get some dimmer switches.
3.	Please dampen the noise. I had a hard time hearing conversation even though the place was almost empty.
4.	Train your staff. It is ok to provide fresh silverware – really. Don’t take it away and then forget to bring some back. (every time I have been there)
5.	Finally – Where is the Manager?.. Come around and introduce yourself. Ask how the meal was; tell people you want them to come back. And tell people to bring some friends.
6.
I really am rooting for you guys!! Probably see you again later this week.
