        <content>just found some ground turkey that's been in the freezer since late april. is it still good?
i kind of remember a "six months rule", but i'm not sure.

      <content>Smell it, odds are it has that lovely freezer burn smell. If it does I would toss it, and I'll eat just about anything. 
I don't like to freeze ground turkey as a rule because I find that the texture changes.</content>

      <content>Hold on. If it doesn't smell or look obviously bad, I'd cook it up with chopped onion and chile peppers, add taco seasoning, and use for burritos. I have frozen meat for more than 6 months and if properly wrapped, it is fine.</content>

      <content>Ditto; don't just throw it out because it's been there for six months.  Check it for freezer burn &amp; if not, use it.  I've kept ground beef, turkey, &amp; pork that long at one time or another and it was fine (I have a body sized deep freezer).  Personally, I've never had problems with textural changes after freezing.  </content>
