Has anyone been to Chance lately? I haven't been in a couple of years, but I'm thinking giving it another try.... Any feedback or recommenbdations would be appreciated.

P.S. I tried to search this board, but I got a zillion posts with the word "chance" in them.

I've always enjoyed, esp the dim sum.

I haven't gone or ordered in a couple of months or so, but I like Chance quite a bit. Staff is friendly when you eat in. It can get crowded, especially weekend nights. They have fantastic lunch specials, possibly the best deal in the area. I'm vegetarian, so not sure my recommendations are useful to you. The miso eggplant is generally good. I get the crispy tofu with black bean sauce and asparagus pretty frequently, and their sauteed veggies are in interesting mix - usually includes cauliflower and jalapenos.

I agree that the lunch specials ($7-9 for appetizer, plus a "lunch box" with salad, rice, entree, etc. ) are a great deal, and good quality. There are also three-course prix fixe menus ($18 or $28) with some interesting choices, plus dessert too. Even my picky friend from Manhattan thought the food was delicious. We particularly liked the foie gras with a red wine reduction and Asian pear (on the $28 prix fixe menu), and the green-tea "mille feuille" dessert. We will definitely be back.

We go to Chance fairly often--so can definitely be considered fans. They do a great job with fish, and their dim sum and appetizers are also very good. The more straight Chinese items tend to be a bit hit-or-miss (nothing bad, just some that we just don't enjoy as much as others). Definitely worth a try to see which menu items work best for you.

The dumplings are fine. Mixed results with other things. As long as you are not expecting anything other than decent neighborhood food, you'll be fine.
