Ok, my girlfriend is usually extremely calorie-conscious. But her bday is coming up and she wants to indulge in a decadent lasagna.

I'm trying to find the best lasagna in Broward. But I'd like it to be a sort of nice place too. I'd feel like a schmuck taking her to some checkered tablecloth mom-n-pop place on her bday.

I'm thinking Casa D'Angelo or Cafe Vico.

Any input/advice/suggestions?

Although I have dined at Casa Angelo man times, I have never ordered the lasagna there. I have also dined at Cafe Vico since they opened (1990/91?) and rarely order anything other than the lasagna. I'm stuck on there lasagna simply because it is the best I've had outside of Italy. It's the real deal --- a true Bolognese sauce, bechamel sauce, and the pasta --- NO Italian-American riccota-laden preparation.

Thanks for the opinion. I think I'm leaning towards Vico.

I would also opt for Cafe Vico, I've never had the lasagna there but now I'm dying to try it! And because the service at Vico is far superior to D'Angelo. It is also a more romantic atmosphere.

I ended up picking Cafe Vico. The lasagna was great. Probably one of the best I've ever had. Very nice atmosphere and service too. Only thing I didn't care for was the house salad, which for $9 should've been a little more impressive IMO. Next time, I would go for the soup instead. Otherwise, it was a great dinner.
