        <content>which upscale hotel has the best afternoon tea.  i want to take my mother in law.  we are staying at the essex house and they offer one.

      <content>Check with the Plaza to see if they still do this...it is great.  Also, the four seasons hotel and maybe the Peninsula.  All in your area.</content>

      <content>Another wonderful option is Lady Mendl's Tea Room at the Inn at Irving Place - you have to reserve, and it's elegant and lovely!       <content>Lady Mendl's Tea Salon at the Inn at Irving Place does a nice job with their five course afternoon tea.  It has a bit of an early 19th century atmosphere &amp; makes you feel as though you've gone back in time.</content>
