I just saw an ad in the Pacific Sun for "Piroshki, Fresh Made Daily" at the Golden Orb in San Rafael (at the location of the former Royal Frankfurter). Has anyone tried them?

Tried to add a link but couldn't.

If you're standing on the corner of Lincoln & 4th Street, look west on the south side of the street and you'll see it's brightly painted orange and tiny. Ashley and Breeze + Ashley's dad have combined talents and are making piroshki from Ashley's grandmother's recipe - the beloved Caroline of Moosetta's Russian Piroshki of Sonoma http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/17745
http://search.chow.com/search?query=Moosetta%27s+Deli+%26+Piroshki&type=&this_tab_only=true
Now there are five; Beef, Italian Sausage (w/mushrooms & peppers), Chicken Pot Pie, Spinach Parmesan, and Cabbage Vermicelli - $3.25 — and cookies, too.
I had the Beef for breakfast, flavorful with chopped egg and dill - and the Italian Sausage for a snack with the Raspberry Shortbread. Note the great graphics, hand drawn on the bags... for the beef (cow) and sausage (pig) - Ashley's got Talent. The piroshki are delicious.
It warms the cockles of my heart to know that the piroshki from Moosetta's have a new generation at Golden Orb!

That is encouraging! Moosetta's had the only piroshki that I considered even close to the quality of the long-closed House of Piroshki in SF. I look forward to going there.

there's a big jar of mustard on the counter to add to the goodness of the Beef piroshki... but, really,— I do prefer a splash of soy sauce on my beef piroshki

I went to the Golden Orb today and had a beef piroshki. It was really good. It came straight from the fryer (had to wait a few minutes), the pastry part was seemingly greaseless, and the beef mixture was moist, flavorful, and interesting. I didn't add anything to it; just wanted to see how it was by itself. No, it's not the same as at the old House of Piroshki, but different isn't necessarily not as good. It certainly was less greasy. We fans of that defunct place now have a worthy replacement. I look forward to trying the other types.

I've now had a beef, sausage, and another beef (this morning). I may never get to the other kinds because I like the beef version so much. Anyway, piroshki fans, this is a must-visit place.

I've now tried the beef and chicken pot pie. The beef piroshki was really fresh, and relatively light (considering!). The chicken pot pie was fine, but not really to my liking. I'm glad the old Royal Frank spot is back in business.
