I just moved to Denver and, though I fancy myself an amateur foodie...there's not enough time in the day nor enough money in my wallet to check out all the new places in town I have on my "to eat" list.

My birthday is next week and I've got a group 10 or so people who will be joining me for dinner and a few drinks somewhere in town. I'm near downtown...but my friends will be coming from all over the city...so location isn't super important as long as it's in Denver proper.

I'm looking for any suggestions for a place that takes reservations, has a good setup for group of people and isn't going break the bank. I like all types of food and since it's my birthday and everyone has to live with my choice...I'd like to take a not always available option of something "exotic" for my less adventurous friends...Indian, Vietnamese, Korean, etc.

A couple of my friends who'll be joining have suggested Little India, L'acie Bistro and New Saigon. I know very little about any of these places...so I'm eager to hear your thoughts on these places as well as an suggestions you may have.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I would highly recommend New Saigon. It's one of my favorites and can easily accommodate large parties. Although the menu has English descriptions on nearly all the items, it doesn't hurt to have someone along who is more experienced in ordering Vietnamese dishes. As a vegetarian, the tofu noodle bowl is one of the top ten things I have ever eaten.

Not sure if it's outside of the budget, but I hear great things about the vietnamese restaurant, "Parallel 17" on E17th st. Here's the link to them: http://www.parallelseventeen.com/
The chef gets a lot of praise by both local magazines. Hope this helps.

I take back this recommendation for Parallel 17. Went last night and my wife and I both walked away profoundly disappointed.

Thanks for letting me know, JKO. I think we're going to end up doing New Saigon. I was seriously thinking about Parallel 17...but was thinking it was a bit expensive. Now I'm going to pass for sure. Sorry you had a bad experience...but thanks for letting me know.

You might consider India's Pearl; a few reviews here. www.denveater.com/denveater/indian/

IMO, it's definitely superior to Little India, not least (but not only) because it has a full bar and a relatively serious wine list. A little more expensive, but certainly not bank-breaking.
