I am planning my rehearsal dinner for Feb. 2010. We are looking to host around 60 guests, family style. It's fun that way! Private room. We could do a buyout, but we aren't totally loaded, and 'buyout' is intimidating. Our guests are staying in Tribeca, we live in Carroll Gardens, so anywhere in between. Or Uptown. Really, anywhere below 59th is OK. My first instinct is Ilili -- and not because there will be Middle Eastern relatives in the house. The food there is just great, a little different and they have the space. Space is key. We don't want to feel like we're crowed into the corner of a bustling restaurant. We're getting married the next day! Respect! OK, we are actually pretty easy. No pizza or BBQ. My mom, who is cool and not like a crazy mother of the bride (groom) type, just isn't feeling it. I was thinking Hill Country, but it got sorta shot down instantly. Too messy. We're doing their PB&J cupcakes at the wedding though. Good food is important too. But I haven't gone to Yelp for help.
