For some reason, I cannot stand the smell of Canola oil, or even some blended vegetable oils, for deep frying. I never react badly to the smell of peanut oil.

Does anyone else have a similar reaction?

I'm not totally adverse to Canola, but I don't really like the smell either. I use Peanut, and Corn mostly for deep frying...On rare occasions soybean.......

Some people find canola oil to be fishy smelling, others (myself included) don't. I wonder if it's possibly a genetic thing like the way some people find fresh cilantro to be inedibly soapy-tasting.

I wonder if the two are related....I'm not fond of Canola, and Cilantro definitely taste like soap to me....Love coriander however.....

You may be on to something. However, I don't think it has anything to do with the food. I, for one, am particularly sensitive to smells and flavors. We frequently joke about how I could have been a bloodhound.
