Since Dunes in Irving is closed, I'm at a loss who has good Gyro meat in this area. And I am craving Gyros and Hummus like CRAZY! I wasn't all that thrilled with Gyro House. It seemed a bit...lacking. There was another place at Brown and 360 that had AWESOME feta, but alas their hummus was way too garlicky, and they have closed at any rate.

Anybody want to help out with some recommendations? :)

We have been very happy with Istanbul Grill on Cooper, south of I-20 about a mile on the right in a small strip. Small and personable. Food is very good. Owner is nice and accommodating. We usually split a Gyros plate and add a Cucumber/Tomato/Feta salad and an order of Hummus. Even my 12 & 14 year old daughters ask to go on a regular basis. I believe it is BYOB. We keep forgetting to ask. We eat there once a week or so and have gotten very consistent quality and service. Prices are medium, average for Mediterranean. Worth the drive!

If you're willing to drive to the Love Field area of Dallas, Stratos on NW Hwy is really good. My husband and I always make it a point to stop there for dinner when we're in the area!

If you're just looking for a good gyro and not a restaurant there is a Shell station at Carrier and Marshall in Grand Prairie that has a fantastic gyro. It's reasonably priced and HUGE.
