I'm going to be staying on the east side of Sanibel Island this weekend for a wedding in Captiva Island. The rehearsal dinner is on Friday, the wedding is on Saturday, and brunch is on Sunday. I need to find meals for the rest of the time (Friday: breakfast and lunch; Saturday: breakfast and lunch; Sunday: Dinner and snack). I'm not looking to spend too much. Maybe $20 per person per meal (without drinks). I'm willing to spend more for Sunday dinner ($40/person).

I will have access to a car so I am able to travel. Though, I think I'll mostly bike and walk. I have no dietary restrictions and will eat anything. Fresh seafood is a plus. Or if there is an amazing burger around, please tell me about it.

Thank you in advance!

I can personally recommend Doc Fords's.... http://www.docfordssanibel.com/

And a quick search of "Sanibel" on this board turned up this thread...

Is the wedding at Tween Waters? They do hundreds of weddings a year.

I love to go to the Lazy Flamingo, but only the one at CapSan Village (the little area at the bridge from Sanibel to Captiva aka Blind Pass). They have a limited menu, its a beach pub really. I always have oysters, naked, and some Fosters Beer. They do grouper well.

The Lighthouse is the place for breakfast. East end of Sanibel. I always get pancakes there. It is very popular.

Island Cow is great for lunches and breakfast too. I've never had dinner there.

For a special dinner try the Thistle Lodge at Casa Ybel. Lovely setting, pretty restaurant, very good food.

I second Doc Ford's...their columbian bbq shrimp is out of this world. Nice patio for dining, too.

are you thinking of the patio at the Fort Myers Beach Doc Ford's. The patio at the Sanibel one has a view of the parking lot. I like the campeche fish tacos at the Sanibel one. Have had two awful experiences at the Fort Myers one, but perhaps it has corrected it kitchen problems by now. It certainly has a stunning location.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions. Here is where I went:

Friday:
Lunch at Lazy Flamingo. Had "The Pot". I liked it. Simple and fresh. Had the local beer too as suggested by the server. The rest of the group had: grilled grouper sandwich, steak sandwich, mussels marinara, and grilled chicken sandwich.

Dinner at The Jacaranda. It was a rehearsal dinner. Salad to start was ok. Entree of stuffed grouper with crabmeat was really nice. The rib roast wasn't pleasing. Too much gristle and fat. And not cooked properly.

Saturday
Breakfast at Island Cow. Loved it! Crabcake and eggs were great. Wait for food was a little long but service was attentive and friendly. Will definitely recommend this.

Lunch at Schanpper's Hots. Simple grub of hots dogs, burgers, and pizza. Hot dog was good, burger was overcooked but still juicy. And pizza was mediocre.

Wedding was at the South Seas Resort.

Sunday dinner was at Great White Grill. Normal pub fare like fried fish sandwich, steak sandwich, and gyros. Though the fish was huge and flaky.

Wanted to go to Doc Ford's and Lighthouse Cafe but I was overruled. Majority favors.

thanks for reporting back. I've never had anything at Schnapper's than their hot dogs and fries. Sounds like a good idea from your report.

I will never understand how the Jacaranda survives other than its senior singles bar scene, but somehow it limps along.

Great White Grill must be new. Haven't heard of it. Things change there all the time. Lots of wealthy retirees open their "dream" restaurant with little experience and find the hours grueling and hiring, training and keeping good help formidable. Some locations change identities at least twice a year.
