Looking for tomatoless red lentil soup recipe

I fell in love with a lentil soup that's a bit spicy, yellow in color, with onions, and no tomatoes, celery, carrot, greens, etc.

Any suggestions or recipes that fit this bill?

Thanks!

    look up indian sambar recipes
there are a lot of variations out there using different vegetables and spices.

this is one is good and the chapati recipe works well too.

That's probably Turkish red lentil soup. Most recipes call for a spoon or two of tomato paste though. The mint is very important.

http://www.turkishcookbook.com/2008/0... Here's a couple that are similar to mine, I like to top with yogurt to make it a little creamy but that's just me. And I don't use bulgar, just orzo or rice. I will try to print out my own recipe later.
