Columbus-Convention Center

Will be in town for a conference and will be staying by the conference center. I won't have a car but willing to take a cab to somewhere wonderful. I am a vegetarian, my other friend is not. We aren't looking to go to the most expensive places in town, but something that is around $45-$50 a person.

This is for a Thursday night.

Dragonfly - absolutely, especially if you are vegetarian and your buddy would be willing to try some vegetarian cuisine. I personally am not a vegetarian, not even close, and still would consider them one of the top 5 places in the city.

Other options that are walkable/cabable that would fit the bill -

Alana's - as mentioned (check out Pattycake Vegan Bakery when down that way)
    Rigsby's Italian

Overall, though, definitely try Dragonfly - it is good enough to make a meat eater re-think things - the portabella bacon and soy "calamari" are both spellbinding.

Thanks! I also eat fish...so it doesn't have to be pure vegetarian. Is M any good?

I've not been to M for quite some time - I don't often go to the same restaurant twice, no matter where I'm at - but I'd rank it favorably with a 3-Star NYC restaurant in terms of food. It is amongst my Top 5 in the city.

One option is Alana's. They will prepare some of their stuff vegetarian or vegan if you ask and your friend can eat meat. http://www.alanas.com/ It is a straight shot up High Street in a cab or you can take the #2 bus.
