I've been in London for the past 3 months and they don't even know how to pronounce guacamole, much less make it! I'm looking for someplace good and authentic. I can go for anything from a hole-in-the-wall to a proper restaurant. Thanks in advance since I know I can count on the chowhounds to point the way.

For hole in the wall, try El Molino in Concord. Fresh tortillas, and IMHO, the best carnitas around. Just a few tables and zero ambiance, so it's best for take-out.

Don't bother trying to find good Mexican food in Walnut Creek, unless you like paying $18 for a couple of trendy enchiladas at Maria Maria. Not quite authentic.

My favorite places to grab Mexican food are El Farolito in Concord (on Grant near Willow Pass, behind the fire station) and the taqueria inside Las Montanas Supermarket.

Tortilleria El Molino makes awesome tortillas.

I second El Molino. It's great for take out... But stay to get the feeling of being at a real working torilla factory - it's a place I take my son to polish up his high school spanish!. Every single thing is great. Sopas are amazing, tacos Dorado are the real thing, and the fresh tacos with carnitas is as good as any taco cart in mexico. You also need to make sure you have some of the fresh juices or fruit salad.
