Any other sightings? The salesperson at the store said they got their forst shipment (limited # of pieces/styles) 6 months ago and the line should be fully rolled out very soon. Anyone have any other info? I don't remember what the prices were like for the originals, but at the outlets they had a buy 2 get 1 free special.

I am skeptical for two reasons: 1) the reports of exploding Pyrex became far more frequent once Corning sold the Pyrex brand to World Kitchen, which changed the formula of the glass so that it is no longer the original borosilicate. The manufacturer has never been forthcoming about the Pyrex failures, which is poor faith that makes me distrust their other product claims. 2) the site says the new "original" Corningware pyroceram is microwave safe. I had some of the actual original pieces 30 years ago when I got my first microwave, and they could not be used in it. They got very hot but the food did not.

Thanks for the info... I will have to check out the 2 pieces of the original pyroceram that I have (bought in the early 1990s) for the microwave info.

It was my understanding that Pyrex for home use has been made from soda-lime glass for many years and not borosilicate.

the "pyroceram" material was differnt than the borosilicate as well... Either way I'm skeptical.

It's pre-microwave era Corningware that won't work in the microwave. They quickly changed it once microwaves appeared on the market, Your 1990s stuff will be fine. I think I recall that the problem was metal in the ceramic but I definitely remember how hot the piece got (without sparking in the microwave).

This is interesting. I really did not like Corningware. I do have one piece of the French White, but I got rid of everything else I had. I thought it conducted heat unevenly.
