Hi All,

I am going to be in Ottawa Nov 5, 6, 7 and I need a couple of good, if not great places to eat. I am going to Beckta one night already. Any suggestions? Are there any Thai places that stand out? I am staying at the Chateaux Laurier for the weekend.

Thanks for any suggestions.

There are lots of options in Ottawa. For brunch try Benny's Bistro, not far from where you're staying, on Murray St. (http://www.bennysbistro.ca/bistro/). Actually, Murray Street has some very good restaurants. The Murray Street Restaurant (http://www.murraystreet.ca/) and Sweetgrass (http://www.sweetgrassbistro.ca/) are 2 other popular favs with local foodies. If you can get around by car, drive over to the Wellington Gastropub (http://www.thewellingtongastropub.com/) on Wellington St. west. For Thai, it's been hit and miss in Ottawa for me so much that I just make my own up since it's the easiest and cheapest cuisine to prepare. There is a place in the market area called Royal Thai which is pretty good. If you want to try some ethiopian food, Rideau St. has a place called The Horn of Africa. Very cheap and delicious.

I've heard great things about the french restaurant found at the Casino Lac Leamy called Le Baccara. For great pho...not good GREAT... Saigon Boy Noodle House on Somerset is by far the best.

fairly close on Sussex st is PLAY (sister to Beckta). Lots of choices in the Byward Market - Navarra and Sweetgrass (agree with Mike on this one)

My favourite place in Ottawa to eat is Domus. The food is excellent, and the wine list has a few gems on it as well.
