Best picks in Downtown Fort Worth?
I am a local of Denton, TX and next Saturday my boyfriend and I are visiting Fort Worth for our anniversary. We're unfamiliar with the city, so I am wondering what is a great restaurant to get lunch or dinner in Downtown Fort Worth. We're also college students, so any place with the average plate costs $20+ is out of our price range.
A recommendation for a good Asian place would be appreciate too. Thanks!

Downtown is mostly yuppie chains....head to Haltom City for Asian. I recommend Thai Belknap. Good food, sweet service, and BYOB. http://thaibelknap.com/
I second the Magnolia Ave recommendation. It's the closest you can get to Austin without leaving Tarrant County.

First Chinese BBQ on E Belknap in Haltom City is 10-15 mins outside of downtown, but the drive is definitely worth it. It's right in your price range and it's totally authentic. My family's been going to the one in Richardson for years.

If you are making a day of it. I would say start off at the Kimball Art Museum (free except exhibitions) walk across to The Modern (small fee), or walk across to the Museum of Science and History to the Omni Theater and watch a movie, then head down to the Botanical Gardens (free except Japanese Garden).

http://www.piranhakillersushi.com/I believe there is a Thai place over off Magnolia which is a fun area on the south side of Downtown. Junsuree Thai I haven't been but here is a menu. I doubt it could top Andaman in Denton (which just recently moved to the new entertainment district just east of Downtown Denton on Hickory).
http://fortworththai.com/Not sure if you are into Indian. This place is decent and better than Rasoi in Denton. Technically it is Asian!

)For lunch I would try out the cheapskate lunch (as I did not spend over $20 for 2) is Panaderia El Progreso on Main and Long. Great Tacos! The pescado and puerco en adobo was quite tasty.
I would say a good bet would be Nona Tata, an Italian place that is a bit quirky on the hours but well worth it. Here is a blog that will give some dishes and pictures which always helps me. Highly suggest calling for the hours.
