Astoria Greek questions

I was sorry to hear that my favorite Astoria Greek restaurant, S'Agapo, has closed. Any nominees for the best Greek place in Astoria for a big group? One with great grilled fish, like S'Agapo? Have heard good things about Kyclades and Philoxenia.

Also, is there any place that serves Kokoretsi? (Intestines on a skewer.) Enjoyed this dish in Greece, but haven't found it in NYC.

  1. i adore philoxenia and wish it wouldve been there when i lived at 33rd and 34th. surprisingly enough, uncle george's serves up a decent kokoretsi. overall, the place is ok at best, but they do a more than serviceable version of that dish.

      1. Try Corner 26 for simple, outdoors, old school Greek. Nothing fancy, kinda like Stamatis on 23rd but better, but not nasty like over in the center of Astoria and not overrated with bad service like the place across from the Beer Garden on corner of 31st where all the Manhattan people go. xxxx fish...darn, I'm getting old or else gotta stop burning every day...Philoxenia is probably the best of it, but it was better before it moved south and when it was up on 23rd Ave. too just a block or so from 26.
