Where to buy sea urchin

culinaryescapade Oct 31, 2009 09:47 PM

Does anyone know where I can buy sea urchin? I have not seen any at my fishmonger. I would prefer to get them fresh (do they even come frozen?), but it doesn't have to be.

I live in Montreal and can pretty much drive anywhere on the island.

I saw some last week or two weeks ago at Atkins/Les délices de la mer (Marché Jean-Talon)

I guess you could call them and see if they still do.

Gidney's (corner Marcel Laurin and Henri Bourassa) carries them fairly often. If you don't want to open them yourself, go to Miyamoto on Victoria and pick up a tray.

Waldman's (Roy x Coloniale) has them quite often. Not always though so I would also recommend calling first
