Any recommendations for a place where I could get a juicy hamburger and my wife could get a nice salad? Or, if I lose out, where we could both get a nice salad?

That's a hard one. It irritates me to send you to a chain, but maybe the Hearthfire?

The Little Cheerful could do the burger, but the salad would be ultra straightforward.

Tivoli does nice salads, but I doubt they have a burger, and they've recently cut their lunch hours. You'd probably need to call and see when they do lunch.

Old Town Cafe does nice basic salads, but I don't know about the burger.

I bet the Copper Hog does a good burger. I've had good steak there, and they seem to care about quality meat. I don't know about the salad, though. It's meat-heavy pub fare there. The salad might be out of a bag.

Well, there is Bob's Burger & Brew. We only eat veggie burgers and have only been there a few times, but the place is always packed. Here's the menu: http://www.bobsburgersandbrew.com/content/menu/menu.asp

And, there's Scotty Brown's over in Barkley Village. Never been there, but have wanted to check it out. I think their menu looks good.

I used to really love the salads at Boundary Bay Brewery, and they did a good lamb burger as well. I haven't been for a couple of years, though.
