Greetings -

We will be arriving into San Francisco and to our hotel on Nob Hill about 9:30 PM on a Sunday night in mid-November. At that point, tired from a full day of traveling, we will only be up for some good chinese delivery. Does it exist, and what would be worthwhile and convenient for our location on Nob Hill to order from? And if such a place exists, what would you recommend to order? By the way, we love real Chinese, having eaten it all over the world...

Many thanks in advance!

One option is to get it at the airport or on your way to your hotel. SFO has decent Chinese food in the International terminal. And there are a number of great options a short taxi or BART ride away (1 mile) in Millbrae including Hong Kong Flower Lounge and Asian Pearl.

Near Nob Hill, you might check Gourmet Carousel (not sure if they deliver). You can see more options (far more than Chinese) with menus on grubhub.com

I don't know if they deliver that late on a Sunday, or their exact delivery boundaries, but I have ordered delivery from Shanghai Bund in Chinatown via grubhub. The food there is good - I had a bean curd and veggie dish that was fantastic as well as green onion pancakes.

To set your expectations, SF is not a delivery oriented town. Hopefully someone will come through for you.

couldn't disagree more since the company I work for has 100+ clients in San Francisco who offer delivery, as well as take-out/catering. But to be fair, it depends on the neighborhood and the type of cuisine. Our busiest clients with delivery are over in the Sunset and Richmond.

I'd be interested in hearing what company you work for as I feel there is a dearth of decent delivery in the sunset.

well, I'd rather not say since I'd probably be breaking a rule. (I don't want to be accused of spamming)

I also assume it depends on the cuisine you're looking for. There's really no shortage of Thai and pizza.

menupages.com is great. it's the best way to see what restaurants deliver. select your area and then the delivery feature.

Here's the link:

I've also heard of grubhub but haven't used it yet.
